Sustainability
Description:
What is sustainability? Sustainability is defined as the capacity for humans and the natural biosphere to coexist as well as how humans can maintain the biosphere. It plays a role in every aspect of our lives, from new recycled clothing from the hottest brands to organic foods at the supermarket to landfills and waste in foreign countries. It influences the ways humans live, think, and act. It is also a major topic in politics with all sorts of government legislation. This track is prevalent in everyone’s life so the given projects will consider sustainability for all. They will include but not be limited to teaching others about ethical waste treatment, ethical consumption, and green technologies for the future.
Guiding Questions:
-
How do we convince a large population to live sustainably?
-
How do we raise awareness about sustainability in a way which motivates and connects people?
-
Think big! Don’t be restricted by your neighborhood, think past what you know. How can we create technologies that can be used in a variety of environments and urban, suburban, or rural areas?
-
Consider the flora and fauna! How will your solution impact them?
-
What’s the issue with current technologies or legislation? Zone in onto the problems and address them!
-
How can all sorts of people chip in? How can the average person reduce their carbon footprint?
-
What are the constraints? Think of potential finances and the general feasibility.
-
Is your solution feasible?
-
Who can do this? Could an elementary student do this? Would it require a professional?

Health
Description:
Health is defined as being physically, mentally, socially, emotionally, and spiritually sound. Every day, people have to maintain their health by eating and drinking, sleeping, or doing other activities such as meditation, etc. Maintaining good health is part of living a good life because it allows our bodies and minds to work at peak function so that we can tackle problems and goals. However, many of our lifestyles include a lot of unhealthy behaviors and habits that take a toll on our bodies. Many people will eat unhealthy foods, partake in risky behavior, won’t get enough sleep, and more. This track is dedicated to turning around this unhealthy behavior and finding ways to integrate healthier behaviors and habits so that the bodies and minds of our communities will be able to function better for longer.
Guiding Questions:
-
How can we make changes to be more proactive about our health?
-
How can we improve the conditions we live in?
-
How can we care for our minds and emotions?
-
What kind of changes can I make to lower the stress in my life?
-
How can we build healthy relationships with those around us?
-
What different and healthier foods can I eat?
-
Can we make a safe space to talk about our mental and physical problems with those around us and help those people solve those problems?
-
How can we be more accepting of those who are not in the best health or have disabilities?

EconomicsDescription:
What is economics? Normally, economics would refer to the analysis of a product, its distribution, and consumer use. The economics track is all about the most cost-effective way to implement sustainable technology. Everybody wants to help the environment but not everybody can afford the products that do so. This track places emphasis on how much a potential solution can cost (raw materials, processing the materials, shipping the materials and product, etc.) and if the solution will yield a net positive change relative to the cost. The ideal solution is sustainable and affordable yet impactful.
Guiding Questions:
- How do we make low-budget solutions to environmental problems?
- How can we make these solutions available to those in both urban and rural areas?
- Consider resource management. If we were to use some resources, where would they come from? Would it be cost-effective and sustainable?
- How do we convince major organizations or large populations to invest in the product?
- How do we maintain the integrity of the product and its purpose while using cheap, sustainable materials?
- Can the product be purchased easily?
- Can the product be purchased by everyone?
